A charity credit card is a great way to give that bit extra without having to budget for it.
Charity credit cards are available for a whole host of charities and - providing you repay your monthly balance each month - they wont cost you a penny to run, but will donate a percentage of the banks profit to the named charity.
Making the most of your card:
- Use your card as much as possible.
Don't change the types of purchases you make, just what you purchase with.
Credit cards are now accepted virtually everywhere. Instead of withdrawing cash for your everyday purchases such as, petrol, groceries, lunch etc. put it on your credit card instead. You will be amazed how quickly the donations rack up!
Always repay the monthly balance
Make sure your switch to regular usage is accompanied by regular repayment! If you fail to repay the full balance every month you will loose out to the interest rate.
Budget your income effectively to ensure you aren't caught short at the end of the month. It may be worth your while setting up a direct debit to make sure you don't forget to pay.
Things to watch out for:
- The APR
This shouldn't be an issue, as you should be paying off your balance every month, but it may be worth your while checking the interest rate isn't too extortionate just in case you miss a payment
