How to use a football credit card...
If you have a passion for football and love your club, then why not see if your team offers a football credit card?
Football credit cards are available for a whole host of clubs and - providing you repay your monthly balance each month - they won't cost you a penny to run, but will take a percentage of the banks profit and send it off to your favourite club.
Making the most of your card:
Use your card as much as possible.
To rack up extra money for your club and reward points for yourself, try and change your spending habits to include more credit card use.
This isn't an invitation to go on a spending spree! Change what you spend with, not what you spend on. Instead of withdrawing cash for your everyday purchases such as, petrol, groceries, lunch etc. put it on your credit card. You will be amazed how quickly the donations build up!
Repay the monthly balance every month!
Although you are probably more than willing to support your club in any way possible, it’s more enjoyable to do it from the stands than from your wallet.
Budget your income effectively to ensure that the bank pays your club out of their own pocket and not from the interest they've earned from you.
Things to watch out for:
Football credit cards offering 0% balance transfers and 0% on purchases.
If a football credit card is offering both these promotional offers, ensure that you aren't ensnared by the frequent con of the 0% cards - a short 0% purchase term coupled with a longer 0% balance period. You may have seen other cards offering something like...
'0% on balance transfers for 12 months and 0% on purchases for 3 months!'
This seems very attractive, however, when the shorter introductory purchase period expires, the card issuer will stipulate that the lower interest balance transfer must be cleared in full before any of your high interest purchases can be accounted for. You will subsequently be left with trapped, interest accumulating spending debt.
